Bitcoin Donations

Please note this is experimental so I wouldn't recommend sending more than a Bitcoin or two for now, although if we got many milli-Bitcoin donations that would be great :-D

If you're wondering how to get hold of Bitcoins, if you're in the US you can get them by depositing cash at any major bank and many grocery stores via BitInstant.  Outside the US it's probably easiest to get them from a currency exchange.  If you don't want to pay for them you can also get them just by looking at adverts and filling in CAPTCHAs (e.g., http://skude.se/BTC/) and accumulate them in a free online wallet (e.g., https://instawallet.org/) until there's enough to donate.

This is absolutely true, but I didn't mention it because it's so competitive now and for most people the cost to mine would exceed the returns.  However if you're somewhere that has low energy costs mining could be a viable method to get Bitcoins.

Agreed. I've been mining in a pool for about a year and I've accrued ~US$200, so it's not exactly a fast way to earn money.

That might not seem like a lot for a year's work at today's BTC price, but as a deflationary currency it could be worth a *lot* more than that in years to come, or even at the end of this year when mining returns halve...  I'm going seriously off-topic here, sorry peeps,
