How do I say...?

Is there a preferred way of expressing: "How do I say [whatever word/phrase] in lojban?" and ask this actually IN lojban?

{.i ma xe fanva} followed by whatever you would like to say, quoted via zoi gy. ____ .gy. is one way to do it. Context should be plenty to allow you to leave out the x1, x3, and x4 of the phrase.

.i ma xe fanva zoi gy. cat .gy.
.i zo mlatu
