I have 4.8 Windows - What's the properly way to upgrade to the latest
Leo ?

Should I...back up .leo folder, remove 4.8 (Tk) (via Control Panel\All
Control Panel Items\Programs and Features) etc....?

Leave .leo as it is.

Yes. Remove 4.8. Then follow installation instructions.

Does "LeoSetup-4.9-final-a.exe" require that Qt be installed first ?

Once you have the 4.9 "official release" working, then further updates are simply:

(ongoing practice - keep your folder containing your leo code - separate from your .mySettings.leo and any data files, .leo and otherwise.)

1. archive and remove that app folder
2. download the nightly snapshot zip file
3. unzip it into the same place
4. enjoy your up-to-date Leo code. . .
