Hi

I had to do a reinstall of R and RCommander, and the car package won't install. Are there implications for lavaan, sem? Is there a resolution path possible?

Thanks, Rick

Have you tried installing car before anything else?   I find that sometimes a package won't install if another package tries to install it, but I can install it myself successfully.

Hi Jeremy yes in fact after reinstalling R, I tried to correct the 'car' file problem, and it failed. I went through steps to install all of the car dependencies but It seems to be protected.

I'll give the R installation another go but this is now the 3rd time around. I'll see if I can get access to install car once more.

Best, Rick

...and thanks for the suggestion I'll see if I can force the car install first, by force.

I received this error:

package ‘car’ was built under R version 3.3.0
Error: package or namespace load failed for ‘car’

If anyone has suggestions I'm stumped.

What version of R are you running?

Hi Jeremy - I 'was' running the downloadable standard version - I've since uninstalled R.

I'm using Ubuntu 16.04 LTS 64-bit

Your asking suggests to me that the version matters. Can you suggest which version of R would you think is best for lavaan?

Please note I'm also running 'EGA' (https://github.com/hfgolino/EGA) and other network models, and because I'm running mixed models, know that I'll want to use this:  "mgm" r package from jonas haslbeck

Thanks for any suggestions you can provide.

Best Rick

Not directly, as lavaan does not depend on the car package. lavaan does
depend on other packages, and they should be installed first (in
particular: mnormt, pbivnorm and quadprog).

Yves.

Hi Yves and thanks for the reply. So, to accomplish the task of installing mnormt, pbivnorm, and quadprog, would you have a link to a procedure? Or will a standard R installation, with R's most current / stable update, be acceptable for lavaan and EGA or MGM, would you know?  MGM is relatively new, as is EGA, so these might not have all the bugs worked out.

I have to run my installation but I'm just finishing off some file searches so I can completely rule out the presence of the older installation, as leaving crumbs around tends to lead to bugs.

install.packages("mnormt")
install.packages("pbivnorm")
install.packages("quadprog")

If you get errors during the installation of these packages, some
essential parts are missing on your system. But the error messages
should point to the parts that missing.

Yves.
