Please let me know if I installed Kobo Form Designer incorrectly!
It's on my D: drive in Windows 7.
The file path in Firefox address bar is: file:///D:/MOBILE/KoboForms/war/KoBoFormDesigner.html
All I ever see is a quick "Saving... please wait while processing" message that disappears followed by a dialog box with the following info:
"Save Form to File" with a button that says "Close"

I'm using the latest version of Designer. Does it need to be on C: drive?

DataMax,

It's one of two things, you will need to check.
First, there is no reason KFB can't be installed on your D: drive. However, if there is a different level of permissions on that drive for some reason, then you could run into an issue with writing files to that drive. That's a little hard to say, the easiest way for you to test that issue is for you to try running Firefox as administrator, (Right click on the Firefox shortcut and select "Run As Administrator") Alternatively, re-install on the C: drive and see if that fixes your file save permissions.

My second thought is that your Java plugin for firefox is out of date. This can happen. Go check to see that your Java Plug-In is up to date here: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/

Please get back to me on what works to fix your problem, I will add the solution to our FAQ so that other users can benefit. Good question, thanks for sharing.

~Neil

DataMax,

If you're not seeing the typical windows file save dialog box appear
then it sounds like Java isn't properly configured for your browser.

Ah, it was the Java Plug-in! Although mine is up to date (1.7.0-ea) from the plugin check below, it was disabled in my Firefox Add-on Manager, so I've enabled it now. But there was a short message (see attached screenshot JPEG) that pointed to this link for more info:  https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/blocked/p80

I've copied & pasted the text below!! I don't know if this issue will be resolved with the next Java update.

Java Plugin has been blocked for your protection.

Why was it blocked?
Outdated versions of the Java plugin are vulnerable to an actively exploited security issue. All users are strongly encouraged to update their Java plugin. For more information, please read our blog post or Oracle's Advisory.
Who is affected?
All Firefox users who have installed the Java plugin, JRE versions below 1.6.0_31 or between 1.7.0 and 1.7.0_2.
What does this mean?

Users are strongly encouraged to disable the problematic add-on or plugin, but may choose to continue using it if they accept the risks described.

When Mozilla becomes aware of add-ons, plugins, or other third-party software that seriously compromises Firefox security, stability, or performance and meets certain criteria, the software may be blocked from general use. For more information, please read this support article.
Blocked on April 2, 2012. View block request.

DataMax,

It seems like Java 1.7 doesn't play well with Firefox. You could try
finding a copy of Java 1.6.0_26. That's why I'm using and Firefox
likes it just fine.

Hope that helps,
