Hi. Any help would be appreciated. I have an app that works perfectly in Ubuntu and Pydroid, but crashes when it needs to activate the Vibrate code from plyer. The log indicates some jnius missing params, but I am not an expert. Spec file is also included. The python code used is only 2 lines:

From plyer import vibrator

vibrator.vibrate(time=2)

#[app@demo]

#
#[app:source.exclude_patterns@demo]
#images/hd/*

#
#buildozer --profile demo android debug

Perhaps the issue is that in Java Vibrator.vibrate() was "depreciated"/redefined in Android API26 ?
[This is not an issue on Ubuntu where vibrate() is explicitly not supported.]

So this Plyer code is perhaps obsolete :(

If this is the issue, consider pyjnius. Though the pyjnius Vibrate examples seem equally obsolete. :(
Also if you start from a pyjnius example remember to change 'renpy' to 'kivy' - more obsolete documentation. :(

Thank you very much for the advice and links. That would make sense. I'm still learning, but I suppose that code works in the android app Pydroid3 because it's programmed with an older api/sdk? Either way, hopefully this will help with devs revisions or anyone else running into plyer issues. Cheers.

The pyjnius methods for vibrate are also broken... I tried using an older API version as well, before they deprecated the one of the many vibrate functions.

main.py - "
# 'autoclass' takes a java class and gives it a Python wrapper
from jnius import autoclass
#from android.permissions import request_permissions, Permission

#request_permission([Permission.VIBRATE])

# Context is a normal java class in the Android API
Context = autoclass('android.content.Context')

# Vibe class
#VibrationEffect = autoclass('android.os.VibrationEffect')

# AudioAttributes for vibrate
#AudioAttributes = autoclass('android.media.AudioAttributes')

# Create the vibration effect you want
#oneShot = VibrationEffect.createOneShot(10000, VibrationEffect.DEFAULT_AMPLITUDE)

# Create the audio attribute you want

# PythonActivity is provided by the Kivy bootstrap app in python-for-android
PythonActivity = autoclass('org.kivy.android.PythonActivity')

# The PythonActivity stores a reference to the currently running activity
# We need this to access the vibrator service
activity = PythonActivity.mActivity

# This is almost identical to the java code for the vibrator
vibrator = activity.getSystemService(Context.VIBRATOR_SERVICE)

vibrator.vibrate(long(10000))  # The value is in milliseconds - this is 10s

Yep :(    Plyer is not evolving at the same rate as Android.

Use pyjnius and try calling with a VibrationEfect argument in place of the int    vibrate(VibrationEffect vibe)

You'll have to autoclass VibrationEffect
