There are many way to garden on slopes; swale, terrace, walls, etc.  For the very steep site (steepness of site is depends on the type of soil, making it steeper than natural grade or mostly steeper than 1.5(h) :1(v)), or erosion is happening site, you would like to be careful about it. I have a bit of knowledge about slopes and soil weight, but not quiet confident enough to teach. I may be able to point out what to look for.

Does anyone know someone who has done steep slope gardening?

Thanks for posting this! I need to plant and stabilize my backyard steep slope. Too steep for swales. Maybe too loose for terraces. I would like to at least put some berries in as a temporary measure while I research, assess and make a permaculture plan. I also want to learn about planting at the TOP of a steep slope. What kinds of berries might work besides blackberries?

As I am dwelling on a site that is mostly steep slopes I would very much like to learn how to build terraces on contour, walls and swales so I can harvest all the water and abundant sunlight here!
