We try to move the download package to move to github. there is no problem there.

But when we change the xml on our update.xml file.  The joomla updater see the update. But when install, you get a error: J2.5 and J3.X

Warning

Error connecting to the server: SSL certificate problem: unable to get local issuer certificate

Error

Package download failed: ...file on github.

The package download is only working when you access the package by a browser, not trough the joomla updater.

You should ling directly to 'raw' file, like so: https://raw.github.com/piotr-cz/mod_freshmail2/master/update/mod_freshmail2.xml, see my whole manifest file: https://github.com/piotr-cz/mod_freshmail2/blob/master/mod_freshmail2.xml

Or you can use https://rawgit.com/ which should proxy to 'raw' file and set correct headers for XML file.

For the updater we call the xml files directly from your own server, only the urls for packages come from github

It's a server issue with some servers.  Those same servers in theory would have issues pulling the Joomla core updates (3.3.6 is using GitHub).
