Directory Site with fully integrated user profiles

Hi,

I want to run a Joomla site with the ability which users can search between entries (based on beginning and destination cities | Dropdown menus), the numeric amount (from X to Y range | text fields) and some other optional preferences including Geo-map.

Additionally each entry is related to a registered user with a profile, So after searching as public users, They need to login to see full entry details and link to owner's profile, therefore can contact him and so on.

What's the elegant way to achieve this in Joomla? Is it possible with k2?

It may be possible in K2 - but probably the easiest way to do something as specialised as this is to build your own custom component.

I would build your own component if you want to expose data in a specific work flow. K2 is pretty big extension, you might want to think about trying to do it with a extension that has less moving parts.

Most of those thing (if not all) can be pretty easy relished with SobiPro.
