Currently, there is no REST API implemented in Jommla 3.

Chris Davenport has built something which I think can be used: https://github.com/chrisdavenport/j3-rest-api

Hi Retikanya,

If you are looking to build a component that implements a REST API check out Nooku Framework  (http://www.nooku.org/features). Nooku Framework is a Joomla extension framework.

Nooku comes with a REST JSON API out of the box, no extra coding is required. Any component you build on the framework comes with full REST API which is based on the JSON API standard : http://jsonapi.org/ More docs can also be found here : http://guides.nooku.org/json.html

Cheers,

Johan

If you install redCORE you add and instant layer to Joomla that supports any 3rd party component.

So install redCORE and create an XML configuration file for the 3rd parties you need it for and you are on your way.

@Ronni, Good work, looks like redCore is evolving nicely.

So to summarise :

1. If you are looking for a way to create web services for existing components you are best to use redCore's xml driven web service mechanism this will make it easy to create your web service.

2. If you are looking for a way to build a custom component and you would like to have a REST service for it our of the box Nooku can be a great solution.

Both solutions also provide a standardised output

- Nooku   : JSONAPI, http://jsonapi.org/

For Nooku we choose JSONAPI instead of HAL for reasons outlined here : http://jsonapi.org/faq/#why-not-use-the-hal-specification

Happy coding!

Johan
