JOB SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Deputy Director of the Policy and Community Building Department, the Policy and Operations Manager will be responsible for supporting the Center’s policy priorities across a wide range of
areas. Responsibilities for this position entail managing designated policy porfolios, as well as providing back-up support on other
department and Center policy and community building projects. In addition, the Policy Coordinator and Operations Manager
will be responsible for managing and coordinating the day-to-day logistical and technology needs of the department.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1) Manage policy portfolios on topics as assigned, which includes researching policy responses, preparing policy briefs, and
coordinating policy campaigns;
2) Coordinate the Center’s 360 LBTQ Women’s Health Fair;
3) Support the Center’s policy priorities, including providing assistance on the Out For Safe School’s Campaign;
4) Work with MarCom to manage the Department’s social media presence and to develop and update content for website,
facebook, action alerts, twitters, as well as for other online venues;
5) Coordinate logistics and technology needs for the department, including serving as departmental point on finance/fiscal, HR,
facilities, supplies, volunteer and IT matters;
6) Prospect and facilitate Center grant opportunities and liase with Center departments responsible for grant proposals;
7) Prepare monthly and quarterly reports as required by funders and program supervisors;
8) Represent the Department on local coalitions and attend meetings as necessary;
9) Coordinate and/or participate in departmental special events;
10) Other duties as assigned;
JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
1) Background in policy advocacy, government relations, and LGBT advocacy preferred;
2) Experience working with and sensitivity toward the LGBT communities;
3) Understanding of local, state and federal policies;
4) Exceptional ability to work well under pressure, manage and prioritize projects with multiple and often competing deadlines,
and meet all set deadlines;
5) Reliable transportation and the ability to obtain insurance;
6) Availability to work flexible schedule including some nights and/or weekends;
7) Excellent Computer skills;
8) Demonstrated ability to work effectively with people of diverse races, ethnicities, nationalities, sexual orientations, gender
identities, socio-economic backgrounds, religions, ages, English-speaking abilities, immigration statuses, and physical abilities in
a multicultural environment;
9) A passion for the Center’s work and its mission to make the world a better place for LGBT people.
