JOB ANNOUNCEMENT

Position:  Drinking Water Projects Associate           Opening Date:  December 20, 2016

Location: Washington DC                                         Closing Date:  Until filled

 

 

Clean Water Action and Clean Water Fund’s national campaigns team is growing. Clean Water Action and Clean Water Fund seek a full-time Associate to work on national drinking water projects. Clean Water Action was founded in 1972 and has a million members and offices working in 15 states. Clean Water Action’s programs engage people to support policies to protect clean water, curb climate change and reduce toxic exposures. Clean Water Fund’s national programs include policy research, public education, and communications strategies to promote reducing pollution and protecting public health, with a focus on drinking water and water pollution issues. Priority issues in 2016-7 include defending critical Clean Water Act protections for all the nation’s water bodies, preventing contamination of drinking water sources, and addressing threats to public health and water resources from oil and gas drilling.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

·         With national team, implement campaign strategies around Safe Drinking Water Act implementation and other drinking water issues including regulatory monitoring and engagement, research and policy analysis, development of written and electronic materials, and engagement with traditional and social media

·         Coordinate with Clean Water state offices and canvass programs as appropriate

·         Convene and/or participate in relevant meetings with allies, policy makers and others.

·         Assist in preparation of proposals, grant reports and other fundraising activities

·         Special projects as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Experience in advocacy work, with experience in drinking water and/or water policy helpful but not required. The ideal candidate will be: committed to the organization’s mission; an excellent written and verbal communicator; well organized and able to handle multiple responsibilities; highly productive and reliable with the ability to exercise good judgment across diverse situations and able to meet deadlines. Candidate should understand how to organize advocacy campaigns and also be comfortable learning policy and technical issues necessary for succeeding in the organization’s work. Candidate should be able to travel to Clean Water offices and other events periodically.
