About The Atlas Project

 

The Atlas Project’s mission is to arm the progressive community with historic and current election data, sophisticated analysis and real time updates for all 50 states. We provide political campaigns and progressive organizations with a baseline set of information to work from – serving as the institutional memory for progressives while providing the movement with the insight, analysis and tools to help avoid costly missteps, make better strategic decisions and ensure campaign staff are ready to meet the challenge.

 

Atlas Political Director

 

The Political Director works with our team to manage and produce strategic, high-level political research and communications to support Atlas’ comprehensive state reports, Online Toolkit and an array of clients in the progressive community. The Director will lead the Political Department, managing several Political Analysts and Fellows. The Political team:

 

  • Collects data and information for key states including: polling data; election results; candidate information; campaign finance data; legislative partisan control; ballot initiatives; and filing deadlines/qualifications.
  • Fact checks reports and memos.
  • Writes briefings, memos, and other materials on research findings.
  • Works with Atlas subscribers to best utilize the Online Toolkit and other Atlas products.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Monitors and clips press coverage about clients, issue campaigns, and key legislative and political campaign developments.


Responsibilities include:

·         Review all department work products, providing constructive feedback throughout the research and writing process on reports, memos, and presentations.  

·          Work with executive director and senior staff to develop realistic timelines for work products; actively monitor political news across the country; identify key issues of interest to clients and work with political team to target research and outreach.

·         Develop and execute strategic objectives of the organizational political and outreach plan.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 5-7 years of political experience, with previous staff management experience

·         Excellent editing, writing, and research skills

·         Strong attention to detail

·         Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively

  • Gifted project manager able to develop realistic work plans and ensure timely and successful implementation
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills with experience establishing and developing relationships with strategic partners

·         Experience working within campaign-related firewalls

  • Strong commitment to the progressive movement and  work ethic to match
  • A team player, able to identify talents within a group and elevate members to achieve a common goal
  • Creativity, energy, and a cooperative spirit
  • A strong sense of humor

This is a full-time position. Salary commensurate with experience.
