Position Summary:

The Elected Leadership team is responsible for inspiring, developing and supporting our members to effectively pursue elected office as a path to help kids and their community. This position reports to the Director of Candidate Development and will be responsible for developing and executing the strategic campaign elements of the candidates in their portfolio. They will work closely with other members of the Elected Leadership team but will have responsibility to have specialized campaign expertise such as fundraising, targeting and analytics as well as media and communications to best support the members and run high quality campaigns. In addition this position will monitor, coach and track data on campaign progress, and handle the day to day tactical needs of a portfolio of campaigns. The Director of Candidate Development will be the point person for any day-to-day needs of candidates, providing high-impact expertise to advance our members’ skills, personal leadership development, and campaign effectiveness.


We are hiring for multiple Director, Candidate Development positions on our nation-wide team.


Position Location: Flexible


Travel Requirements: 40%; dependent on position location. Travel will fluctuate based on election support cycles, and will depend on geographic distribution of candidates in the portfolio.


Responsibilities:

Campaign Management/Execution (40%)

  • Coach, develop, and support a portfolio of candidates on all aspects of campaigns and political operations
  • Serve as a consultant with candidates in execution of their campaign plans; connect candidate to resources, campaign specialists, and coaching to develop their ability to run high quality effective campaigns
  • Assist candidates in rapid response and immediate tactical needs

High-level Campaign Strategy/Development (35%)

  • Develop relationships with member candidates and the outcome of campaign plans, success and innovation
  • Provide insight and expertise on cutting-edge campaign tools and modern campaign ideas
  • Support candidates in reviewing public messaging documents, for accuracy and effectiveness

Track and maintain individual and team data (15%)

  • Monitor internal data system, enter campaign data and create regular campaign progress reports

Special Projects (10%)

  • Special projects as assigned by the Director, Candidate Development ​​
 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 6 years of work experience
  • Experience with at least three election campaign cycles
  • Expansive experience in campaign strategy and campaign development
  • Highly effective communication, coaching, and relationship building skills
  • Ability to track and analyze metrics efficiently and effectively
  • Proven ability to manage high quality, high-impact driven people
  • Comfortable operating and contributing in a fast paced, entrepreneurial environment
  • Effective 1:1 skills focused on building relationships
  • Team-oriented, flexible, and collaborative mindset
  • Ability to work occasional weekends and evenings

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with at least four election campaign cycles
  • Experience with at least two election campaign cycles as a campaign manager or senior leadership role
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Experience in managing teams to data driven results
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate within a geographically dispersed team
  • Strong, demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity & inclusion
  • Deep passion for educational equity and belief in LEE’s mission and theory of change
