Position Description:

Riverside Organizing is hiring field organizers for a large-scale, year-long volunteer mobilization and issue advocacy project. Based in Missoula, MT the organizer sought will be conducting the project on behalf of Montana Conservation Voters. Field organizers recruit and train a dynamic volunteer base in issue advocacy and grassroots lobbying activities to advance clean energy and other environmental policies and priorities.  Field organizers will work in Native American communities and with local leaders, organizations and youth to address environmental issues affecting their communities and make lasting change in the effort to fight climate change. Field organizers will grow an already powerful network of volunteers and activists, execute grassroots advocacy and accountability campaigns, and hold a wide range of events and trainings to amplify public support for clean energy policies and solutions.

Responsibilities:

·        Recruit, mobilize and train diverse group of volunteers in issue advocacy and grassroots organizing campaigns.

·        Track all volunteer outreach and engagement in VAN and submit daily reports.

·        Plan and execute organizing actions, events and trainings.

·        Develop relationships with environmental leaders and other progressive advocates in the community to engage in field events and activities.

·        Foster partnerships with racial justice and equity groups on environmental issues in communities of color.

 

Qualifications:

  • Must possess strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Must be able to prioritize and effectively manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Must demonstrate cultural competency with racially diverse audiences.
  • Fluency in VAN, Microsoft Office Suite and other field tools is a plus.
  • 1+ cycles of electoral campaign experience.
  • 1+ cycles community, issue, labor or political organizing.
  • Work hours vary from standard office hours and include Saturdays.
  • Have your own reliable transportation.
  • Successful experience working with teams representing a rich mix of talent, backgrounds, and perspectives.
  • Experience working on an issue campaign, especially environmental is a plus.
  • Experience working with Native American communities is preferred.

 

Duration: This position is full-time, salaried and temporary.
