People’s Climate Movement

Field Organizer

The People’s Climate Movement (PCM) is looking to hire a Short-Term Field Organizer to work with national, state, and local organizations and activists to help build out “PCM’s 100 Days Fight for Climate, Justice and Jobs”. Kicking off with actions across the country during the first 100 hours of the new Trump Administration and Congress and building towards a massive mobilization on Washington DC on April 29th, the PCM is working to mobilize a wide array of communities and constituencies to fight back against the new administration’s efforts to roll back action on climate change, attack working people, women and communities of color, and pass laws that target immigrants and Muslim communities.

The PCM Field Organizer will be responsible for:

  • Building out the PCM field network of organizations and activists – with a particular focus on the Mid-Atlantic region;

  • Identifying opportunities for building/strengthening local, state and constituency tables around the country and to staff those tables

  • Managing and coordinating both distributed actions around the country and actions in Washington DC associated with the First 100 Hours and the 100 Days organizing work

  • Provide support as needed during the 100 Days Mobilization.

We are looking for a mid-career professional with at least 4-6 years of experience in direct organizing experience working in the field, ideally including national field management experience.  Top candidates will possess a strong background in working with organizational leaders and community activists, experience in mass mobilization and direct action, base-building and community organizing, and coalition building. A background in digital organizing would be helpful but not required.  Spanish language skills would be good but not necessary for the position.

This position is open immediately and will last through May 15th 2017.  We strongly encourage people of color, women, LGBTQ, and front-line community activists to apply for this position. This is a contract position and compensation will be DOE. This position will be based out of Washington DC with required travel throughout the region.

Please send a cover letter, resume and a short-writing sample (call to action, flyer, etc.) to Paul Getsos, National Coordinator at the People’s Climate Movement. pgg...@gmail.com
