Position Description:

The Center for Community Change seeks a highly motivated, detail-oriented team member for the Immigrant Rights and Racial Justice team who will work closely with the Director of Immigrant Rights and Racial Justice and key staff to manage and implement projects. The Senior Project Manager will coordinate with internal departments as well as external partner groups to advance CCC’s racial and gender justice work. The Senior Project Manager will also provide research, writing, and communications support under the direction of the Director of Immigrant Rights and Racial Justice. This is a mid-to senior-level position that requires excellent verbal and written communication skills, familiarity with the progressive advocacy sector, and exceptional political judgement.

Principal Responsibilities:

Project Management

  • Coordinate special projects and various high-level tasks and deliverables initiated by the Director of Immigrant Rights and Racial Justice
  • Manage the day-to-day needs of CCC’s race and gender justice efforts, including tracking project budgets, facilitating meetings/events, developing communications, and serving as a liaison to outside groups
  • Work closely with the internal team at CCC focused on advancing a race and gender justice agenda
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders across functions and issues to facilitate and advance racial justice and immigrant rights work through their structures

Research and Writing

  • Conduct policy and communications research projects in the area of immigrant rights and racial justice – memos, position papers, speeches – as needed
  • Prepare and distribute materials for meetings, for multiple audiences including staff, board, committees, consultants
  • Capture and follow up on meeting outcomes

Qualifications:

  • Five to seven years of experience in a role focused on racial justice, immigration, project management, or some combination thereof
  • Experience working with community based and grassroots organizations and coalitions
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work accurately under deadlines in a highly dynamic work environment
  • Analytical and critical skills – capacity to extract key points from data and reading
  • Strong writing, editing, and communication skills
  • Knowledge of racial justice, gender justice, immigration issues
  • Relational skills – capacity to work with a broad range of CCC staff in different units and levels, and with field partners and national allies
  • Ability to make connections between information, people, and organizations – and relate it to the work of CCC
  • High level of discretion and judgment
  • Prior experience in the world of organizing and advocacy is highly desired

This position reports to: Director of Immigrant Rights and Racial Justice

The Center for Community Change recognizes a staff bargaining unit affiliated with IFPTE Local 70, a union for non-profit workers. This position is included in the CCC bargaining unit and covered under the terms of the collective bargaining agreement.

This position is located in Washington DC, and is budgeted for one year from date of hire.

Salary and Benefits: $63,000 – $70,000 annual salary. CCC offers an excellent benefits package, which includes 4 weeks of vacation; paid leave between December 24 and January 1; 3% employer contribution to a 401k at time of hire and an additional 5% at six months of employment (8% employer contribution); and a choice of health insurance plans.
