POSITION AVAILABLE: Southern California Organizer (Full-time; Position Located in Los Angeles)

REPORTS TO: Executive Director, Common Cause California

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: This position will serve four counties including Los Angeles, Orange County, San Bernardino, and Riverside and will work to expand and to increase member action and public support for campaign finance, media, and electoral reform as well as other issues.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Build coalition support, organize members and educate the public and elected officials on issues. Develop and write public outreach materials including factsheets, action alerts, presentations and online updates.  Must be able to recruit and coordinate volunteers and plan regular member events throughout Los Angeles, San Bernardino, Riverside, and Orange counties.  

QUALIFICATIONS:  Experience in political organizing or management of political strategy; strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills; knowledge of political process, including understanding the connection between grassroots campaigns and the legislative process; ability to train, motivate and work with volunteers of all ages and backgrounds; able to work under pressure of deadlines and frequently changing priorities; strong computing and research skills, website maintenance, and managing lists desired; familiarity with Common Cause issues including voting rights, redistricting, and campaign finance reform and strong commitment to the public interest; working knowledge and proficiency with social media tools including Facebook and Twitter.  Must have own transportation and able to work evenings and weekends.
