Hello,

Thanks for all of the hard work that was put into JBT. Nonlinear are
you the designer? It seems that you answer most questions in this
group.

First off, let me say that I am running a demo version of TWS and I am
aware that Nonlinear says JBT won't work with TWS demo (however I
don't understand why). At first I was having difficulty connecting and
getting the error: "receive timed out". After closing out my firewall
and peerblock, I am now having a different problem: when I try a
forward test of the Simple strategy, JBT will sit and say [Forward
Testing] indefinitely. Is this simply because of the demo version?
I'll attach my Event Report too, but I don't think the even report
includes the indefinite forward testing because I've always closed JBT
after 30 minutes of nothing loading.

Can I sign up for TWS without funding the $10,000 right away or is
that the only way to get access to a regular account? I would like to
do quite a bit of tinkering with my strategy before I dive in with
real money. Once I get a normal account will a TWS simulation give me
enough depth of information to develop a working strategy?

If TWS simulation won't give me adequate practice, what other feeds/
platforms could I use to experiment with trading algorithms? Thanks!

JBT had been a team effort, but yes, I've built majority of components.

There are three types of accounts with IB:
1. demo account
2. paper trading (otherwise known as simulated) account
3. real account

You can get a demo account without actually depositing any money with IB. However, that account is worthless with JBT. The market data is fake, and market depth is not broadcasted. When you have made a deposit with IB, you get both simulated and real account. Both of these can be used with JBT.

Once I get a normal account will a TWS simulation give me

Yes. I'd note that if you are looking to develop and test your trading strategies, you don't need IB connectivity at all. JBT will work in the "backtesting" and "optimization" modes using historical data.

Hi,

I would like to try out JBookTrader with IB for automated trading, and wonder how many users on this list have actually used JBookTrader for real trading (and made some profits)? I hope to hear some stories about your trading with JBookTrader if you would like to share. :-)

Thanks,
Jack
