JDK 8 (jigsaw deferred and new profiles)

Mark Rheinhold posted on his blog (http://mreinhold.org/blog/on-the-next-train) that Jigsaw will be delayed until Java 9.

He also pointed out two new JEPs to introduce some new JRE profiles for smaller devices.  http://openjdk.java.net/jeps/161 (this is the main one with the 3 proposed breakdowns), http://openjdk.java.net/jeps/162

What do you think Oracle's strategy for JavaME is?  Are they hoping to regain ground for devices or are they hoping to use the smaller profiles to help porting Java/JavaFX applications to Android and iOS devices?
