Subject: [ISCB] Job: Research Associate, MRC Biostatistics Unit at University of Cambridge

Research Associate (Fixed Term)
MRC Biostatistics Unit, University of Cambridge
£28,982-£37,768

An exciting opportunity has arisen to work on a Medical Research Council (MRC) funded grant in the MRC Biostatistics Unit (BSU). From 1st December 2016, the MRC BSU will be part of the University of Cambridge.

The MRC BSU is one of Europe's leading biostatistics research institutions. Working with Dr James Wason within the 'Design and Analysis of Randomised Trials' theme, you will develop methodology relevant to the MRC/NIHR-funded grant "Developing efficient perpetual platform trials to study multiple treatments and multiple biomarkers". In addition to methodology development, you will publish papers in high quality peer-reviewed journals, disseminate your work at statistical and clinical conferences, and make open-source software available that implements the methodology you develop.

There will be opportunities and funding to work with grant co-investigators at several UK universities and the MD Anderson Cancer Centre in Houston, Texas.

You will have, or be about to obtain, a PhD in statistics or related subject, and statistical computing experience, e.g. programming in R or Stata. Some knowledge/experience of methodology for clinical trials would be desirable but not essential. You must have excellent communication skills and show potential to publish high quality scientific papers.

This position is available starting January 2017 but can be postponed for the right candidate.

The closing date for applications is Wednesday 19th October 2016.

Informal enquiries can be addressed to James Wason (james...@mrc-bsu.cam.ac.uk).

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 3 years in the first instance.
