This clover is growing around my home. It should be fairly common but I do not know its identity. Please advise.

Ashwini:

flowers?

color?

what is found in abundance in Ireland canada and rest of the  north american continent  allover is this chevron (the while line design ) on the green leaf, ir the RED CLOVER since its pink flowers look red at the end of their freshly opened state... some flowers can be pink at bottom white on top..

its Trifolium repens
whats in your fingers is a 3 leaf clover, usual ...

If you search its bound to show /give you a four leaf one...
which I found in your pictures  I circled it  in your top picture

Andrew Weil the alternative medicine guru has a nice story of looking for a four leaf clover .. and idea of expecting to find it versus not expecting to find it... or was it Deepak Chopra who told us the story.. I forget... it only matters that if you expect good things to happen they will.
Four leaf clover  is very sought after in songs, life, daydreams and in general public sentiment in Ireland and north america...   google it and you'll be that much richer in folklore and ideas...

If you find a few pluck them and put them in books to keep for ever...

good luck

Thank you Ushadi. My wife who grew up in the hills remembers looking for four-leaf clovers as a child. She used to put them in between the pages of her books too. May be I'll look for them with my daughter soon.

The ones we have with the white Vs have white flowers. I found one today.

Please advise.

Very very interesting Didi, thank you very much for forwarding the thread.
But, how can I knit a story out of it? I haven't seen any clover yet! If there had been such stories or belief relating to rain lilies! I have seen rain lilies having variable number of perianth segments, a common phenomenon.

Regards
surajit

and stories pop out of my memory bank when i see something related
right from top of my head cant say i know of any such for rain lilies yet.
But who knows you may now know someone who knows ....
