These seeds are sold as fodder for munia or finches. A Panicum seed search shows similar looking seeds. I have been told by the seller that he gets supply from Andhra Pradesh. Is it possible to identify species level only by these seeds?

Thank you

when the birds drop these around feeder some grasses come up...

so it implies that you could de-husk them or soak them a bit  and plant a few and see what come up?

easiest thing to do if you have even 6 inch plot of empty space in the yard

one can try with caryopsis as the above sample also contains lemma. and the size of spiklet can be estimated its around 2.5 mm -3mm in size. the surface and the number of nerves can provide you important imformation.

Many thanks to Anil Ji, but it becomes more difficult to me to try to get details inside of this fruit-cum-seed. In fact I don't even have a good magnifying lens. Even then I won't understand anything at all. Found the book though, can't have access.
