notification unsubscription

iNat currently has an option to unsubscribe from confirming identifications. This likely saves me from a lot of identifications.

20-90% of my notifications on a given day, however, are still things I don't need. If I go through all true flies and identify the wasps among them as wasps, I don't have much interest in then receiving notifications for every subsequent identification of the wasps. Is there any way to "unsubscribe" not only from confirming IDs, but from IDs that aren't explicit disagreements, and to do this only for specific taxonomic groups?

Are there any solutions that others of you have found to filter out extra notifications without missing any that are of interest? Thank you!

I don't think there is a way to unsubscribe on a mass basis like you've described.
I will "unfollow" an observation if I know already that I'm not interested in receiving updates on it.

I find myself unfollowing a lot of obs when, as edanko says, I'm no longer interested in the refinement of the IDs. It can be a bit tedious though, and sometimes that I accidentally click the 'follow user' toggle when trying to click the  'unfollow observation", toggle. Do we really need that 'follow user' option on every observation? There are other ways to opt to follow a user. 

To make life easier, it would be great to be given the following options in the ID box when making an ID:  to opt to not follow the observation (default is to follow) and to opt to be notified of agreements of your ID even if your site-wide preference is not to be notified of agreements. (this has been requested by myself and others elsewhere on this board, because sometimes one is uncertain of an ID and would like to see the confirmation.). I've done a mock up. The option to follow agreements of one's ID will only appear if your site-wide preference is not to follow agreements.

+1 Get rid of “follow account” in the Needs ID page

 

+1 “follow observation” toggle on making ID (but also keep it where it currently is, minus the follow account)

 

+1 a new toggle for “also follow agreements”

 

Although I would prefer it be under “mark as reviewed”, with the “also follow agreements” slightly indented to show it’s relationship (and dependence) on the follow observation tickbox
