IIIF use cases and user stories on github

Colleagues-

For some time now we've been encouraging you to submit use cases and user stories to help develop a comprehensive understanding of the community's needs as we propose and develop solutions for authentication, search, discovery and other enhancements to the IIIF technical framework.  Many of you have documented rich and compelling use cases and submitted them by email, which we greatly appreciate.  

The email method of finding and organizing use cases has of course proven unscalable, so we've created a dedicated GitHub repository as a central home for organizing use cases and user stories related to IIIF.

Our hope is that IIIF community members will create individual GitHub issues for specific use cases and stories, and then assign labels so they can be easily sorted.  Sample data associated with use cases can be added to the repository if applicable, and others can comment on or watch issues of interest.

The next major extensions of the IIIF framework will be related to authentication, search within an object, and discovery of IIIF resources. We are especially interested in seeing use cases related to these topics added to this issues repository.  It is also appropriate to add use cases related to issues that might get future consideration, such as support for 3D or video.  

If you have submitted a use case to iiif-discuss, please copy and paste the contents into a new issue, and add a title and labels appropriately.  We hope this will not take much time, and it would be a great help in migrating previously documented use cases into this repository.

I'm sorry, you're correct, Tom.  I clicked on the repository link and noticed that it said "This repository is empty."  Of course it is, there's no code there -- just issues. :)  

Perhaps someone with write access to the repository could stick Stu's original message there as a Readme.md file or something since that's the page you land on when searching/navigating there.

I've written some more material on auth. This goes beyond the previous description of Wellcome's current practises and starts thinking about how they could be expressed in IIIF (here using annotations).

This is far too verbose to be added as an issue; it's more of a straw man discussion to explore how authentication could be expressed with IIIF vocabulary.
