Hi, sorry to ask but I didn't find an answer in the FAQ or elsewhere.
I just subscribed to the mailing list using my email (not a Google account) and I would like to add a post to an existing topic.
Is that possible?
Thanks in advance

Adding a post to an existing topic is a reply. Just reply to the
message to which you want to refer. The polite thing is to remove all
irrelevant content and reply to the individual points.

This works for this topic since I created it from my email but as I said I just subscribed to the mailing list, so I don't have all the messages that existed prior to my subscription in my inbox (not to mention it would be impractical anyway).
Once again I don't have a google account. I deleted it recently as I said I was preparing for it in this post:
https://groups.google.com/d/msg/hugin-ptx/mEePHXFVbYI/Ww74Uyh6BQAJ

so I don't have a reply button in the web interface anymore.
I've been told a google account is not necessary to use this google group (https://groups.google.com/d/msg/hugin-ptx/mEePHXFVbYI/4qy3KjNGCwAJ) but does that still mean I won't be able to reply to existing topics or is there a way?

Many mail clients will thread your message correctly if you use the
original subject line together with Re: as a subject. Google apparently
will do so as well:

I tried all the combinations of Re: and [hugin-ptx], followed by the topic's title.
Has anyone actually succeeded in doing this?

Google groups FAIK work as a standard mailing list, so title is
certainly not enough. This is what Message-ID and In-Reply-To headers
are.

For example, the email I'm replying to contains the following Message-ID header:

Message-ID: <AfpXlRqqWfS9a1VYotYZZeUctUlUdPd9LC_Z6usaMD4K_rskC9aNe49Oa1HKCY1wWG5DiNyexXuZn6sDiGRaOTk1BNLy9qWqEFM9EQf4Nvg=@protonmail.com>

So the email I'm just writing is going to contain:

In-Reply-To: <AfpXlRqqWfS9a1VYotYZZeUctUlUdPd9LC_Z6usaMD4K_rskC9aNe49Oa1HKCY1wWG5DiNyexXuZn6sDiGRaOTk1BNLy9qWqEFM9EQf4Nvg=@protonmail.com>

To ensure the reply is correctly threaded.

Well apparently Protonmail doesn't support setting the In-Reply-To header manually: https://protonmail.uservoice.com/forums/284483-feedback/suggestions/9655260-make-it-possible-to-use-reply-to-field

However, they're developing an IMAP/SMTP bridge which could be used on Thunderbird which, on the other hand, does have the ability to set the In-Reply-To header, so I wonder if I could do it that way.

I'll have to wait for their reply.

So Protonmail recently released the Linux version of their Bridge app for Thunderbird.

I tried it and it seems that adding the In-Reply-To line isn't enough.

I added that line using the header-tools-lite extension and after sending the email that line was gone.

Do I have to add other lines?

Correction: According to this stackexchange post, I'm supposed to add a reference, not an In-Reply-To.
When doing this, the line stayed after the email was sent. However, it should have popped up right above this present post and clearly it didn't.

This is the Line I added:
References: <axTkKIfN13gDOEXepzLV07bwJczYl8lWqi_tCSNXLdGgEylVASJVZkIxYgZ3zHbOFojd_-OJlq2J3GEEZAS0e_Xp6XQgvW9d3ddul7MOG6M=@protonmail.com>
Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

This is a test message sent with another Protonmail account using the
new Protonmail bridge for Thunderbird on Linux.

You need In-Reply-To, which should point only to the post's direct parent MID. References should contain a list of other, older MIDs in the thread, but I don't think it's strictly necessary.
