I wrote a song last night to ease my spirit

Seems there have been so many changes in my life of late... not the least
of which is: The most exciting lover I've ever had just dumped me:( I
feel the dog days of summer may be coming on, or perhaps a period of
quietness. Who knows what shall win out. Can anyone relate?

I was thinking... maybe I need a bohemian sort of woman... somebody who
used to chase the Grateful Dead, but is bored now. Or, perhaps a bi
woman... a true seductress who keeps bringing home one-night stands to
share, while I whisper dangerous fantasies into her dreaming ears night
after night. Or, perhaps a slut- the gender-reversed "stud". A confident
woman- in spirit at least, ready to take whatever she wants, and leave the
rest. I seem to have a certain rapport with proffessional women, but I
think I'd prefer to step out of the rat-race. Anyone for a nomadic
existence? Any musician females out there? Speak!! You know my
e-mail... here's my phone: 341-7382. Wanna talk dirty? Wanna roleplay
the ultimate whore? Shall I laugh a Jack Nicholson sort of laugh and tell
you "bring it on... I can take it!!" I certainly want it. How deep is
your hunger? Are you feeling bold? I desire feminine energy in my life
right now. I generally don't bite unless asked, and I have a fairly
profound respect for women. Contact me. See what happens. I dare ya.

I wrote these lyrics at work last night, and wrote the music this
morning. I haven't recorded it yet, but it will take up several MEGs- too
much bandwidth to be appropriate for this newsgroup I suppose. If you're
interested in hearing it, let me know by e-mail- also let me know what
platform (Mac or PC).

How quickly I fell in the wonder of the moment
Just like a child, I didnšt see it coming
And now youšre leaving and it feels
Like youšre taking everything that matters
You know it leaves me wondering

How it might have been
Like that story goes...
Love on the silken edge of a summer storm
I feel so young and free in your embrace
I hope I never will forget your lovely face

The rhythm of your step and the sound of your laughter
Are chasing after me wherever I may wander
And I donšt mind
Though itšs hard to let go
One thing I really wanna know, is

How it might have been
Like that story goes...
Love on the silken edge of a summer storm
I feel so young and free in your embrace
I hope I never will forget your lovely face

I know the longing that I feel, and the passion that I see
Itšs all just part of me- but that donšt ease the pain
I wonder if you really can
Know how it feels, to think of you
In the arms of another man

Love on the silken edge of a summer storm
I feel so young and free in your embrace
I hope I never will forget your lovely face
************************************************

Peace to ALL of you.

Technical tip:
To drastically reduce screen clutter: filter "Mancini"!

So dude,

I always am impressed by people, especially men, (though
somewhat suspicious) who bare their self in a public forum.
Could be nuts, could be a perv, could be an interesting
person. I myself am called the "queen of overshare" by my
dear brother-in-law, so I feel a certain sympatico. :)

You have a certain ease with words, which I also find
noteworthy, a little florid, but hey, we all need a little
more flora in our lives! The line "love on a silken edge of
a summer storm" is quite nice, I must say. The rest
wouldn't make a bad drekish pop song, but that one line was
quite fine. IMHO. And what more do you need for a love song,
anyway.... :)

(well, good music as well...)

What "kind" of music do you do? Send me a file, should be
fun. My husband has a midi set-up, so if you send a midi
file in Mac Vision I could hear it, I think. Or just a
plain old Sound Machine, SoundApp file or something. I'm not
altogether sure how it would work.

Cheers.

Hehehe... yeah, I seem to have suddenly transformed myself from an erotic
bad boy to one of the former categories in the eyes of said woman. Perhaps
I would best be described as a nutty interesting perv- but synergistic and
not malicious at all.

It's funny you should bring it up actually. I told her a while back that
I sometimes listen to her answering machine just to hear her voice. I
guess she took it to mean that I called specifically for that purpose- but
I just meant that on a few occasions, while calling to talk to her, I went
ahead and listened to her message just because I like her voice, and then
hung up. She seemed to find this activity to be certifiably insane. Some
people I've talked to think it's kinda romantic, others think it's a bit
odd, but I don't think anyone has put me on their "obsessed stalker" list
yet (except maybe her?). I've seen her jump the gun to suddenly find other
people's semi-normal behaviors "really weird" too, so I try not to take it
too personally. I do feel a bit misunderstood. I'm a little hazy as to
why she has cut me off. Though she said we could remain friends, she seems
to want me to "take the hint" (which I HATE- I told her from day one that
I prefer the direct approach), and has stopped returning my calls.
Perhaps the "relationship" was much more shallow in her mind than I
realized. I seem to be on my own in the resolution phase.

I couldn't agree with you more. During any other chapter of my life, I
would have thought this song to be worthless drivel. It's one of those
songs that sounds like it should be sung in nasal country tones in a
cry-in-your-beer, teeny-tiny-violin-playing-my-heart-bleeds-for-you
extravaganza. As it stands though, right now, from the inside, it seems to
be one of the most emotive "love songs" I've ever written.

To me, the music really brings it off the page, especially the chorus and
the bridge. I'm too close to it right now to decide if I think it's
really a good song. Right now it's just good therapy. I knew I'd have to
try to write some really good music to turn such an unpoetic set of lyrics
into art. Maybe the verse melody still needs some work?- Let me know what
you think.

I'm into Classic Rock- Zep, ZZ top, Eagles, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Talking
Heads, Rush, Yes etc. Also studied jazz in college, and have especially
been inspired by Coltrane.

I'm on a Mac also, and I went hunting for shareware to find a way to
record this song on my PowerMac. I found a really great shareware page on
the web for downloading Mac sound utilities:

http://www.wavenet.com/~axgrindr/quimby4.html

The programs I've been most impressed with so far are:

Mini Recorder 2.1- a multi-track recorder. It's got a very clunky
interface, but it has some pretty powerful features.
SoundApp- a versitile tool for reading and converting all sorts of
sound files.
SoundEffects- This is an awesome program. I'm so notorias for not
paying for shareware that I call it stealware, but if I ever cough it up,
this will be the first one I buy. It MUST have been written by a
musician, not a computer geek. Check it out.

I'm gonna send this as a .snd file. It's huge, so I hope it makes it to
you in one piece. Thanks for the feedback and interest.

There you go! :)

Does this mean guys who express their feelings through corny
poetry eventually get the axe?? Isn't it true (or am I alone
in this respect?) that most guys express their feelings through
grunting, farting, and belching? :)

Well, I'm on a Macintosh, using the Newswatcher application. In my case,
I just clicked on one of Mancini's postings, then selected "filter this
author" under the "filters" menu. I am assuming that most newsreaders have
a similar option. Now, when I open the houston.personals window, I see
about half as many postings, and yet have twice as much fun reading them.
Of course I still see his thread in other people's replies. If only
everyone ignored him...

*Muzikman, far-away eyes gazing into space, dreams of a perfect world*

... but alas that is too much to hope for.

I think I've heard of helper applications that can even search the content
area of the postings, and get rid of other annoying stuff like all those
1-900 ads.
