Best practice for removing a gem you no longer use.

This is probably more a general rails question than specifically for Hobo, but I was just wondering what the best practice for removing a gem from a rails/hobo app is?

For example... I was looking into using jasper_reports for some reporting I wanted to do, but decided to wait until I get a little more comfortable with both rails and hobo. So, how would I remove that from the app so that I don't have any of the views,controllers, models, etc... and any tables that might have been created when it was installed?
