Temporarily Remove edit permission of a user via JCR

Hello Community people :)

Is it possible to temporarily remove or block write access of a reader, in Java using JCR API?

Scenario-

Approver receives a publish request for a document. Now , the approver has edit rights, it can make changes in the document. 

But when the approver rejects the request and sends the feedback back to the editor , the edit rights of the approver are revoked till the time the editor raises the publish request again. 

Basically, block the edit rights till the time an event happens.

Is there a way of implementing this?
