Hi there!

I´m new at Hippo CMS and i´m just doing some research about this great product. I would ask you if there is any test plans recomended by Hippo in orther to help our developements. I mean, is there any provided , or recomended test plan focused on the performance, security, stability, etc?
On the other hand, it would be nice to know wich quality testing processes are covered "by default" by HippoCMS, for instance: do they conduct tests regularly? are these tests explained somewhere and the results presented? I don´t find nothing related to these topics ...
It is important to me to know more about Hippo, if anyone can help me I will apreciate very much!

Thank you very much in advance and have a great day!
Xavi.

someone from our engineering team can give you specific answers, but, yes we have continuous integration (jenkins) running, including vulnerabilities dependencies checks (e.g. owasp),
besides that, pretty much all of our clients also run security/performance tests on a regular basis.
If you are concerned about any specific subjects feel free to ask,

cheers

Hi Marijan,

Thanks for your reply, it helps a lot really really!
Hope someone from engineering team can give me some details of the quality of the testing process followed, at least, at high level. I´m really interested to know also if these results are published somewhere to take a look and if they are available periodically..

Only one more thing, when you talk about check code quality/test coverage what do you mean? how can I check it exactly? thanks again and sorry for the amount of questions!

Cheers,
Xavi

Hi Xavi,

About the location of our community code base related to testing:
Apart from the unit tests, integration and performance tests you can find in our community code base, we perform end-to-end test. Those tests are based cucumber and selenium.  We have some commercial offerings to support you with setting up such tests.

A few considerations:
  • Trust Bloomreach that we test our the authoring environment ( cms ) and delivery tier thoroughly;
  • If you have any cms extensions on you cms, the effort of writing end-to-end tests for them is big. Consider the trade off between manual testing and setting up an end-to-end testing framework for those parts;
  • Make sure your have a set of careful independent unit tests to cover any custom code for your cms, site and integrations;
  • Consider adding integration tests using a unit test framework ( see the examples in our community code base );
  • For the delivery tier part: make a decision if its worth setting up end-to-end tests. They are expensive to create and to maintain. For small projects manual testing requires most probably less effort in both time and costs.
  • If one would decide to set up end to end testing for the authoring environment or the delivery tier: Please contact our sales department if you want some help.

hth,

Michiel Rop
