These are new:
https://docs.cfengine.com/docs/master/reference-promise-types-routes.html

How does the agent configure the route? Ip, ifconfig, or something else?

There are a number of promise types that show up in https://docs.cfengine.com/docs/master/reference-promise-types.html which do NOT show up in the 3.6-specific documentation, https://docs.cfengine.com/docs/3.6/reference-promise-types.html. "routes" and "interfaces" are two that I've noticed.

My assumption is that docs/master contains references to features that may - or may not - show up in a an actual future release at some point.

Yes, master has fruit from much labor.

Networking promises from some of Marks SDN research. I think there is also docker support in guest environments.

Lots of potentially interesting things to look at when focus turns towards 3.7.
