Hello,

The weather is perfect for cycling these days, so next weekend I'll do a 2 day ride from Hanoi to the Perfume Pagoda and back. Feel free to join!

I'll start Saturday morning at 7am at Veggies. I researched a pleasant route (low traffic) to exit Hanoi towards the southwest. It's about 80km without climbing to the Perfume Pagoda, so there should be plenty of time left in the afternoon to take the boat ride to the pagoda. I'll spend the night in one of the nearby towns, and cycle back along the red river on Sunday (75km).
This is a link to the proposed itineray: http://www.wikiloc.com/wikiloc/view.do?id=1275767

All suggestions are welcome,
cheers,
Toon

Good suggestion Toon, but there is competition (an alternative at least, for some). Next weekend is the annual KOTO Ba Vi bike ride. I’ll be doing that on Saturday – maybe there are some other  ‘Hanoicyclists’ doing the Ba Vi ride as well. Perhaps we can make contact and ride together on Saturday. I’ll be riding back in the afternoon if anyone is looking for company. Also, if anyone wants to sponsor me I am happy to take your money for KOTO, a great cause.

The weather is sensational for cycling, so enjoy wherever your ride takes you.

Cheers

Mike

Hi,

1) we're planning to hire a mini bus this Sunday (7th), to bring us +/- 60 km northwards out of town to Thai Nguyen. From there we'll cycle around the Ho Nui Coc lake, a pleasant country ride through tea gardens, sloping hills but no serious climbing. The route is about 80 km. Pick up again from Ba Hang by the same bus in the afternoon to bring us back to Hanoi.

Leaving 6.30 from Hanoi, back around 16.00, depending of course on the traffic.

The bus can take 6 bikes, and 4 are already taken by Jan, Liesbeth, Toon and me. Two more to go, first come first serve.
Sharing the costs of 1.7 million. We've been out with this company often before, nice guys.

 2) The earlier announced weekend ride to the Perfume Pagode will be postponed one week, so going on 13/14 November. Toon, Jan and me will go and would invite more company!

Hope to see you & safe rides

Nicholas,
great, looking forward to Sunday!
Please be in front of Veggies a little bit before 6.30 so we can try to leave in time. We'll try to eat lunch somewhere along the route but last time it was a bit of a hassle to find food so bring sandwiches as well.

Brieke

ps. Hope you don't have to come all the way from Australia :-)

Hi Brieke,
still following the trips you are planning in Hanoi. Is the weekend trip the same one we did last year together?
Best regards

Hello all,

As said, the ride to the Perfume Pagoda has been postponed to next saturday 13/11.
So far are joining: Jan, Brieke, Liesbeth, Nicolas and Toon.
There is the possibility of adding a very nice loop through the karst hills, bringing the distance to 113km (saturday) and 76km (sunday). For details, see http://www.wikiloc.com/wikiloc/view.do?id=1294487. We can decide this on Saturday, but don't hesitate to send me your feedback.

We'll start from Veggies at 7am.
