To add to the list, Pine Shores Presbyterian Church has had an active handbell choir /ministry for 48 years.

I amd surprised, but don't recall anyone mentioning Margaret Surcliff and her Beacon Hill Ringers who began in the 1920's.  The AGEHR, of course, was incorporated  in 1954, so there should also be some charter member choirs who still remain active.

She and her ringers were mentioned in the first reply to this thread! I thought they were in the 40ties though. They 20ties you say?

Yes, Doug, someone did mention the Beacon Hill Ringers in this thread, but that person didn't know when they began. Sounds like a winner to me! They'll be up for a Centennial soon!

I checked with one of our long-lasting handbell choirs here in Minneapolis area and there are a few who were already ringing before 1964.

If you are looking for the longest running handbell group in the WORLD, you would need to look toward England.  They started the whole craze after all….!
