Should setting the schema_search_path designate a default schema for creating tables and indices?

In sharing a schema between H2 and postgresql, I notice that setting the search path for postgres defaults the schema for all statements.  However, H2 still uses the public schema for creating tables, even if the schema_search_path is set.  Is that expected?
