Hm, I think on some operating systems the process will be killed when
the spawning VM exits.

I suggest to use "jps -l" to get the process id, and the "jstack -l
<pid>" to get the full thread dump. Or use "kill -QUIT <pid>" (Linux).
Then post the full thread dump. Any non-daemon thread will keep the
process alive.
