Hello,

I previously reported an issue, where no tabs showed in the settings
window, making any configuration apart disabling growl impossible:
... While the changelog of 1.3.3 states that this should be fixed,
that is not the case.

This is a screenshot of the 1.3.3 settings window: http://i43.tinypic.com/1ys6k8.png

By that, we must conclude that the bug escaped the fly swatter.

That is very odd. The toolbar is now showing, but still no toolbar
items (note that the height of the toolbar is greater than just a
title bar). So indeed, the fix for showing the toolbar "worked",
however, it still hasn't prevented there from being some issue. Have
you tried deleting the com.Growl.GrowlHelperApp.plist and
its .lockfile in ~/Library/Preferences since upgrading? It could be
that some toolbar state got saved out inadvertently (We don't
explicitly save state out anywhere to my knowledge, but weirder things
have happened).

I'm seeing the same thing.

Also very strange: the first time I use the "Open Growl
Preferences..." menu item after launching Growl.app nothing opens.
Other windows deactivate, but there's no Growl window. After that, the
menu item opens a prefs screen with no buttons in the title bar (i.e.
just the on/off screen) and that's also what I get from selecting any
of the menu items for recent events.

FIXED!!

After having Growl 1.3.3 on one of my Macs working just fine and another giving me the weird behavior of requiring 2 menu selections to get the Settings window to open with no tabs and trying every nuanced workaround/fix suggested in the relevant threads here with no change, I took the meataxe approach.

I quit Growl and HardwareGrowler, dragged them from the Applications folder to the trash and emptied it, found every file and directory in ~/Library and /Library related to Growl and not part of some other app end gave them al the hearty rm -rf they so richly deserved. Also ran 'defaults delete com.Growl.GrowlHelperApp' and 'defaults delete com.growl.hardwaregrowler' to be sure. Running 'ps auxwww|grep -i growl' gave me nothing now, and 'find /Library ~/Library -name "*[gG]rowl*" ' only gave me things in other apps'  directories so Growl itself was well and truly dead and gone as it deserved to be. I then fired up the AppStore, went to Purchases, and as AppStore is supposed to do, it offered me me Growl and HardwareGrowler with active Install buttons. CLICK! CLICK! wait…. wait… All downloaded and installed. Ran the apps, and Growl now works just fine.

Yes, I have a few settings to set following the Growlocaust I inflicted on my system. But at least now I CAN.
