Hi,

A Skype update has affected the notifications from Growl. The version
of Skype is 5.1.0.935 and I'm running version 1.2.2 of Growl. This
has been replicated on a Mac OS 10.6 and 10.7 so I'm certain it is
just the Skype version causing the issue here.

At first the notifications didn't work at all. So using the Growl
preferences I changed the Skype notifications to run 'Always' instead
of 'Application Decides'. The notifications now started appearing but
they would remain on the screen and would not fade away like the
configuration said they should (set to 5 seconds). I only changed two
of the notifications to 'Always' but all of them started to appear.
However it was only the two that I changed to 'Always' that would not
disappear.

Thanks,

Lee

The notifications are doing exactly what you told them to do: “Stay on Screen: Always”.

“Enabled” is a checkbox. It's either on or off.

I've been experiencing the same problem with Skype - ever since version 5.x.  All of my other applications continue to work fine with Growl, but Skype does not.  Mainly, I like to see a notification when a contact Signs In.  Now, I receive the audible notification from Skype, but no Growl notification.

I've been using Skype and Growl for a long time now and nothing has changed in my configuration, except for the upgrade to Skype 5.x.  The latest version of Skype seems to provide Growl notifications on an intermittent basis, but it's really just a tease - and usually occurs when Skype is in the foreground (which really decreases the usefulness of the notification).  I'm guessing this is Skype's problem - hoping this gets figured out soon - I really miss it !

Current System:
MacBook Pro (Intel)
Mac OS X v.10.6.8
Growl v.1.2.2
Skype v.5.3.0.1074

In the Skype application, there is a link in the menu under
Skype -> Provide Skype Feedback…

I would say it is definitely worth letting them know directly, via something like that!
As you said, it sounds very much like it's up to them to fix.

Thanks for the suggestion.  I just submitted feedback to Skype, describing the problem and making reference to this Group/Topic as well...
