It actually is not a trojan horse at all. Likely what happened is something like this:

You installed software that decided to install Growl, without our knowledge or input. In other words, people at say Adobe decided to install it without asking you.

Does that sound accurate? If so, please visit http://growl.info/thirdpartyinstallations.php for both removal instructions and all of the information we have available. Multiple applications have done this. We don't like it, nor do we want them to do it.

We're actually changing to put Growl into the Mac Application Store so that 2 things happen:

1) Apple confirms that Growl is not as you say, a trojan. They will not allow trojans or viruses onto the app store.

2) It's less tempting for these developers to do this.

We do not have a way of stopping these developers from putting Growl into their software like they are doing it now.

Why Open the Web?

Despite the connecting purpose of the Web, it is not entirely open to all of
its users. When used correctly, HTML documents can be displayed across
platforms and devices. However, many devices are excluded access to Web
content.

This is not a valid signature delimiter. The only valid signature delimiter is <start of line>-- <end of line>

That is two dashes followed by a space and nothing else all on one line.

If you use that, especially in front of a 16 line sig, people will be happier.

Please take this sort of thing off list.
