Can you explain a bit more about what you are doing? "xcode project that used Growl" could be a few different things for instance.

Sounds to me like you've got a half implemented plugin installed that doesn't quite fully fulfill the plugin api contract.  So its going to barf on any notification that fires that is configured to use that plugin since the plugin doesn't conform to the GrowlDispatchNotificationProtocol. I'd check and see what you have in ~/Library/Containers/com.Growl.GrowlHelperApp/Data/Library/Application Support/Growl/ in the display plugins dir.
