I was led to believe that Growl would work with Thunderbird 11, but as
of now no luck. I wonder what is going on!

The firefox end says for 11

It might be that thunder bird is using an older frameowrk still in the beta, firefox says it will be fixed in version 11, so it might be the same for  thunderbird, there might be a bugzilla ticket also for Growl 1.3.x support

Why Open the Web?

Despite the connecting purpose of the Web, it is not entirely open to all of
its users. When used correctly, HTML documents can be displayed across
platforms and devices. However, many devices are excluded access to Web
content.

Firefox has to update the growl framework they use, they said they will fix it in version 11, but you might be able to manually force update the framework

Works fine in 11 I had to import my profile, as it was corrupt.

Firefox ripped our framework apart, so there is no way to "force update the framework" without a whole lot of work.

What did you do?
Restart?

First you have to make sure Firefox shows in GROWL if not instal
version 3 so it will show in GROWL. Next install 11 it should start
working as long as you set it up in GROWL.

Which version 3? Neither Firefox nor Thunderbird are in my list of
Growl applications. I have just updated both programs from 10 to
version 11.
I am using Growl 1.3.3
Thanks

Any older version that will force it to show in Growl.

I wasn't actually paying attention and forgot that this version added
growl support!

When I first setup growl on Lion (in December) I remember deleting all
my apps from the Growl Settings window. Yesterday, I probably logged
out (I don't run as an admin user), updated Thunderbird using their
update system, logged back in and notices started appearing.

As far as I can tell it just all started working like it's supposed
to. Haven't done anything with Firefox 11 yet.

If it matters, I'm running Growl 1.3.3 that I compiled myself, using
the Growl.app-1.3.3 tag as my release.

As long as you have an entry in GROWL the new 11 works great. If you
don't that is where the problem arises.

yea, it's working with the new growl and t-bird 11 by default.

Just used the growl uninstaller to uninstall 1.2.2, re-installed 1.3.3
from the App store app, and it seems to be working just fine. t-bird
and firefox were in the app list, and they are still there.

Have you updated Thunderbird/Firefox or installed new in version 11?

Yes, updated t-bird to 11.0, removed growl 1.2.x using their
uninstaller, installed growl 1.3.x from mac app store.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled Growl 1.3.3 and Firefox 11 but
Firefox is not in the application list of Growl.
Isn't there any way to activate it?
