Hi,

I'm still on Snow Leopard, and using Growl 1.2.2. Does the Network
Notifications facility work in 1.2.2? I've got two Macs, both running
10.6.8 and Growl 1.2.2. I've turned on "Listen…" and "Allow remote
application registration" (along with a simple password) under Network
on the receiving Mac, and "Forward…" under Network on the sending
Mac. My receiving Mac appears in the list on the sending Mac: I've
selected it and I've entered the password.

I launched FStream which sends quite frequent Growl messages, but none
of them show up on the receiving Mac. Firewall is off on both Macs.
Airport Extreme Base Station is the router.

Before everyone says, "just get 1.3.3 on the App Store, it's only
£1.49!", let me just say that I'm waiting for the rating to go above
2.5 Stars. Once it gets to 3.5 or more (with a concomitant increase
in positive verbal reviews), I'll purchase.

Oops, I didn't realise the App Store version was 10.7 only! Guess
I'll be on 1.2.2 for a while then :) So, someone, please help me get
Network notifications working :))))

No chance of any help with this then? I've tried using Handbrake to
send notifications too, and these don't show up on the receiving Mac
either. I recall that Network notifications was broken for some time,
so at the very least can someone just inform me as to the status of
this facility in 1.2.2?

I wouldn't hold my breath on app store reviewers. Some people are just negative. :)

Anyhow, so 1.2.2's networking is pretty bad. Some people were able to get it to magically work, and others were not. I had it working the one time I needed it, but that was years and years ago.

Can you send us screenshots of the configuration on both sides?

Chris

Thanks for responding. Here's the client Mac (ie. the one hoping to
receive notifications from elsewhere on the LAN):

And here's the server:

The blurred out computer is the "Computer Name" of the client Mac.
I've tried both with and without the password. When I tried it
"with", I'm confident the password (a very simple one) was correct.

I don't suppose I can compile 1.3 for Snow Leopard?

Regards :)
