GM 0.9.5 Open Tab errors

My users are reported two different errors experienced when the GM
open-tabs API is executed in V.0.9.5. It either errors out and the
script stops working, or it opens the tabs but in the wrong postion
(next to the active tab, instead of to the far right, as set in the
Options). I know these errors have been reported. What I'm trying to
figure out is why some people have one result, and others have the other
result. There doesn't seem to be any commonality, as far as FF version
or OS. Does anyone have any insight?

GM_openInTabs (0.9.5) does not work at all for me with FF 3.6.17. Reverting to 0.9.3 makes things work.

In the Error Console I see the message:

Error: browser.tabs is undefined Source File: file:///C:/Users ... /components/greasemonkey.js Line: 287

This happens in a freshly created profile with only Greasemonkey added.
