Hey,

I have a task in my "Due today" queue/view (this happens to be a sub-task):

I have two ways of viewing this task in context (i.e. with the parent and sibling sub-tasks):
1. Click the "Home :: Projects" link and navigate through the queues to the parent task, or;
2. click the "Parents: Organise new flat mate" link and see a queue in isolation.

I'd like to be able to click #2 and have the ability to edit the sub-task - or any of the tasks in the queue for that matter, but this functionality is absent - why is this?

Best regards,

Cameron (GQueues Team)

Hi Lewis -

In the Task Overview you should be able to edit the description of any subtask, add notes, change the date and mark it complete. Is this not working for you?

The only functionality prohibited in this view is adding or deleting tasks and reordering existing ones.

Hey Cameron,

Thanks for response - hope you're well

Yep, I'd like the missing functionality, as I delete tasks once they're complete. It doesn't make sense for me to keep them around. Creating new subtasks would be useful too.

What's the reason you've left this functionality out?

Yours hopefully,

Got it, Lewis.  I'll put it on the list.  They were left off at the time for technical reasons - nothing to do with design or usability.  -Cameron

Hi Cameron-

Glad to hear that this is on the list... in the meantime, even having a link back to the master task (where you could add, delete and reorder) would help a lot. Currently from Search, Tag or Today -> Magnifying Glass -> Task Overview there is no easy way to even find the task if it is buried deep in a queue full of other tasks. Just having an easy link to the task would go a long way.

Good suggestion, Mike.  I'll put it on the list of improvements.

If you are in the Task Overview, you can hover your mouse over the task to at least see what queue the task lives in, so you can manually navigate to it.

Yes, I'd like to update/add/delete/re-sort child tasks within its parent's view, too.

I'd also like all of this to be keyboard-enabled, using the same applicable keyboard access.

+1 - Yes, I'd like to update/add/delete/re-sort child tasks within its parent's view, too.

I've come over from ToDoMatrix (Blackberry), and the ability to work on task in 'sub-folders' is especially important functionality.  Based on the way I utilize Gqueues, I have many-many sub-projects within my Queues and the ability to go to the Task Overview and add tasks & delete tasks would be really useful functionality.  The other item related to this that would be really beneficial is when I look at a smart queue (Due Today, or Next Action for example) I am able to hover over a task and show the queue / project it is a sub-task of, but again, really want the functionality from a Smart Queue to go to the related Task Overview for the task I'm hovering over with the ability to add & delete tasks.

Overall - I really like this application, its taken a little to get use to and come up with strategies that work for me based on the way I utilized ToDoMatrix, but I seem to have a system that is working pretty well for me now.

I appreciate your on-going support and development!

Thanks,

Chris B.

Cameron,

I'm still banging on about this!  Please add this functionality or alternatively change the parent links to jump you to the task in the actual queue rather than a task overview.

Thanks,

Martin.

+1 to this thread.

For me, for now, a simple link to the Queue at the top of the Task Overview page would be adequate.

Thank you.

+1 from me on this. So often I click on a task from a smart queue and end up here where I might mark a task complete, and then need to add another and there is no easy way to do it. I have to go and find the queue manually in the lists, horrible :/

Any news?

I usually review today's tasks in the evening, and often it turns out that something requires more subtasks. However, I can't create them from "Today" smartlist, nor from "Task overview" page.

I think this is a similar issue -- when I click on a Tag to see the tasks there, I am then limited in what I can do with it. E.g., I cannot add a subtask. It requires one to figure out what Queue that task is in, manually navigate to it, and do one's business there. Too many steps, similar to the issue that I think is being pointed to here with regard to smart folders.
