the north part of splitlayoutpanel cannot resize automatically?

as shown in the attachment.
in the SplitLayoutPanel called searchResultPanel, the upper part (North) is a LayoutPanel called layoutPanel, which enclose a scrollPanel, the lower part is a ScrollPanel called scrillPanelDetail.
then in code
but I found that when I pull down the splitter, the north part will not be resized!! when I pull up the splitter, the upper part also will not be resized, although the lower part can.
any method to make the upper part to resize according to the splitter movement?
