gwt and chrome frame

we have enabled chrome frame in internet explorer.  It seems once you have chrome frame you can only view GWT sites that have the chrome frame tag in it:

<meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=edge,chrome=IE8" >

for example the gwt showcase site does not work any more, unless I uninstall chrome frame.

I have confirmed this with a number of pc's and all get the same problem.

there is this thread about it in the chrome frame forum, but doesn't seem it went anywhere.

has anyone run into this problem?
