"A widget that has an existing parent widget...", but there is no parent widget

I end up with "A widget that has an existing parent widget may not be added to the detach list" when I try to create a Label within a form after the following GQuery call has been made:

$("#loginForm").submit(new Function() ...

(adding event listener on loginForm element)

If I'm not mistaken GWT decides whether element is part of widget based on whether it has any event listeners attached to it, I am judging by

user.src.com.google.gwt.user.client.ui.RootPanel.isElementChildOfWidget(Element)

Seems like that is causing the above described.
