You're never going to please everybody. I think GWT does a good job of something that is technically very difficult. We're writing java that gets run natively in a browser as javascript, and you even get to debug in java. That's pretty amazing.

The author talks about anti-patterns without saying quite what he means. The article also contains at least one factual error. "even if you disable some browsers for local development you still are going to get the language permutations". This is just plain wrong.

Without GWT  there are things we could not have even dreamed about doing.
For me nothing beats GWT out there.

I think the writer of this article should first read up on the manual of the enter key.

I'm still very new but I'm enjoying it a lot.  Like cueman said though, can't please everybody.

Author of article has right in some points (think that everyone who is
developing apps using gwt found himself in similiar problems like
author), but as Paul Robinson said, GWT do something that is very
difficult. You can never please everybody bud I'm sure that everyone
who had develop some J2EE applications with other frameworks (JSF,
Struts, ..) have met other painful problems. But know, I'm pretty
sure, that GWT is the best what can you use for large applications.

As a proffesional I have a simple answer, everything depends from what
are your needs, knowledge of your team and of course customer
will :).
