http://code.google.com/apis/chart/interactive/docs/gallery/geochart.html

This URL viewed in any version of IE does not display any GeoChart
visualizations, and instead displays an error message, "Requested map
does not exist."

How the hell did this happen?

It works fine for me (IE7-9).

Asgallant, I have to ask - are you running those different versions of
IE on the same machine, or different ones? If the same, are you using
any special tricks/apps to make them play well together?

When I last tried to run different versions of IE, I had a lot of
trouble. If you know any tricks for running multiple versions, I'd
love to hear them.

PS: Extra points if your approach to this somehow involves jQuery ;)

I have one machine running IE9 and IETester (which emulates the behavior of IE5.5-8 correctly most of the time [when it's not crashing]).  I tested on an older machine at the office running IE8 as well.

I was using jQuery in an entirely unrelated project (tested simultaneously in Chrome) - does that get me bonus points?

Nathan,
The message you're receiving indicates that there's a problem with loading the map information.
Unlike the chart library, the maps are served from www.gstatic.com.
The only idea I have is that somehow your browser or network keeps a white list of legitimate addresses, which does not include www.gstatic.com.

Let me know if this helps,

This is correct.  I ran fiddler on the page load, and the response was a page from my company's security gateway.  The interesting (though unsurprising) part is that this is only happening with Internet Explorer, and it is only happening with resources from gstatic.
