interval role behaving differently on discrete vs continuous axes?

Consider this data set on a discrete axis http://jsfiddle.net/k2hwr/3/ (more on discrete and conituous axes).  Now notice how the intervals start to "invade" the adjacent bars on the same data set but on a continuous axis http://jsfiddle.net/k2hwr/1/ (more on intervals), and yet even more aggressive "invasion" with more bars http://jsfiddle.net/k2hwr/2/ and on.

Is this for any particular reason?  bar.groupWidth doesn't seem to make any difference for intervals, so is there a way to restrict (or expand for that matter) the top and bottom segments of intervals?

To the best of my knowledge, the width of intervals is not customizable at this time.  You can file a feature request for customization of intervals here.

Hey, pardon for the delay in replying, somehow I didn't get a notified on my mailbox.  Apart from customization capability I was also wondering why would it be that roles seem to behave differently.  I'm coming to realize there are several tiny and strange differences on discrete/continuous axes.

Many things behave differently when comparing discrete vs continuous axes out of necessity.  Why intervals display that particular peculiarity on continuous axis charts, I cannot say.
