How to Add a Marker on the Route

I have the following requirement.

1. User enter on Start And End location and submit the directions to be rendered on the MAP and also user should be able to drag the route.
2. On the route in between start and end location user want to add Marker .

First requirement is done, however the 2nd requirement I am not able to place marker exactly on the route, I am not sure which even I need to handle. Request you to share the examples.
